This is a good reference / text book for a Mechanical engineer with formal training. The book covers a broad range of engineering design applications and problems and moves quickly between chapters. Do not buy this book if you do not have any formal training or classes in fundamental Engineering: static's, dynamics, material science, etc. This is not a step by step book. This is a typical college text book that can also be used as a reference book. The author presents information as if your were in a classroom environment; namely a few steps, and then jumps to the solution; as you can clearly see the solution is ???. If you are looking just for a pure reference book, purchase Machinery's Handbook instead, 2700 pages plus by Industrial Press, Inc. If you can not find it in this book, just give up..
