For Grades 7-12.This is one of 12 Earth Science Videolabs that provide an interdisciplinary and multi-learning style approach to science teaching. These Videolabs are designed to be helpful to the inexperienced earth science teacher, as well as useful to the experienced master teacher! The combination of doing lab activities and viewing the concepts in a critically acclaimed DVD will result in a dynamically interactive classroom experience. Your students will appreciate the opportunity to reinforce the concepts they learned in the DVD video while doing the activities featured in the stations. The boxed lab for each week-long unit includes 3 components: the topic video(s) in DVD format, the materials for each station (often in labeled zip-lock bags), and the Teacher's Guide. The Teacher's Guide provides a valuable resource containing sections on general Videolab goals, specific station learning outcomes, teaching strategies and tips for success along with a day by day lesson plan. Copy masters are provided for the pre/post test, lab station instruction sheets and student answer sheets. A correlation of each unit to the grades 5-8 and grades 9-12 National science Standards is also provided. It is important to note that the stations have been designed to capitalize on a wide variety of learning styles. The SI system of units (metric system) and mathematics are emphasized.
